DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Reduce Pain

Regularly used by professional sports people, deep tissue massage can benefit everyone. A deeper and more intense version of your average massage, this form of treatment works deep into the muscles fibres to help release tight tissue, improve circulation and enhance mobility. The level of pressure can be adjusted to suit your individual requirements and pain tolerance levels. My clients do comment that after enjoying a 'Geordie' massage with me, they never bother with a spa massage again!

Improve Movement

I am trained in muscle energy techniques - a form of treatment which involves moving and stretching parts of the body to help enhance mobility. There is a small amount of effort required from the client in the form of pushing against my resistance. It is a very effective treatment which I have used successfully on a number of occasions to help re-balance musculature and overcome aches and pains.

This magic tape is an amazing tool which I have used to treat anything from plantar fasciitis to poor posture. Great at providing support without limiting movement it also assists in reducing swelling as well as promoting healing post-injury. I have a great choice of colours available to buy online or at The Shed for only £5 per roll.

Tension Relief

Tight muscles from over-training? Tension in the shoulders from poor posture or anxiety? Achy joints? The relatively pain free application of fine filament needles to the area of concern can be beneficial. The dry needling technique is based on the Eastern practice of acupuncture and is a common treatment offered to my clients who fancy something a little different to deep tissue massage. Not suitable for pregnant ladies, those with a nickel allergy or an aversion to needles!

CUPPING

Improve Circulation

Another alternative therapy to your standard sports massage and made famous by the Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, cupping is a great means of loosening tight tissue and promoting healthy circulation to muscles. Plastic cups are applied to the body, creating a vacuum, lifting the skin tissue and helping to release muscular tension. Superficial bruising is to be expected following this treatment so it is not suitable for those on blood thinning medications or those with delicate skin.

Stress Buster!

Perhaps one of the most relaxing treatments that I offer, I find that the use of hot stones during a soft tissue massage really helps to work deeper into tight muscle tissue as well as providing pain relief through the healing power of heat. Definitely a treatment for the colder winter days, this therapy is especially useful for those with stress and anxiety related ailments.

Reduce inflamation

Red light therapy is a safe, simple treatment that delivers concentrated light to your skin and cells using the same wavelengths as natural light from the sun without the harmful UV rays. Like natural light, RLT helps stimulate the mitochondria in our body. Mitochondria are the tiny powerhouses within the cell responsible for energy production. This increased bio-stimulation accelerates your body’s recovery process and relieves minor muscle and joint pain and stiffness, minor arthritic pain, and relaxes muscles. I regularly use it for post-workout soreness (DOMS), sports or athletic injuries, backaches, arthritis and stiffness.
